My students need Compass, Protractors and other supplies to keep working on their projects but of course we need all of our supplies to start the year strong. Thank you for your help.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. Our school serves students in grades 8-12 and provides rigorous academics, fantastic teachers and a safe learning environment. Our goal is to prepare our students for success in high school and college, and our alumni have gone on to schools such UCLA, Chapman University, Occidental College, Azusa Pacific University, Cal State Universities, and many more. My math classrooms are a place of challenge and discovery.
By challenging the curiosity of students by setting them problems proportionate to their knowledge, and helps them to solve their problems with stimulating questions, I may be able to give them a taste for, and some means of, independent thinking.
Encouraging my students to work on problems that are challenging for them so that they can make mistakes. Mistakes are valuable!!! It is important for students to take risks, engage in “productive struggle”, and make mistakes. And keep telling students that struggle is really important. It will make their brains grow.
My Project
The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students already have a "home." In other words, I know exactly where everything will go. We just need your help in getting everything through our door! The pencils, poster boards, protractors, and other supplies of the sort will be used by the students, so that they may create inspired poster to share their project based problems. The donations to this project will help to improve my students' understanding of and competency in fluency, discourse, and application in mathematics. By implementing the Growth-Mindset Project Based and Communicative Approach model, my students will begin to see themselves as true mathematicians and thinkers. We will use these materials to aide us in the process of becoming life-long independent mathematicians. My goal is to provide stimulating environments for all students; with a classroom that offers opportunities and challenges for students while at the same time to encourage and nurture a student's development. Let’s consider the work of a mathematician: One first has to pose an important problem, then map out a mathematical approach, one will probably collaborate with others on ideas, and engage in what Lakatos describes as a zig-zagging process of conjecturing, refining counter examples and proving. One has to form a mathematical model, apply methods, draw diagrams, connect ideas, reason about connections and communicate in different forms. The work is multidimensional. When mathematics is taught as a multidimensional subject in classrooms students engage more, enjoy math more and achieve at higher levels. Yet I truly need your support to make this a reality. Thanks
