There is so much to learn in a day and we are busy learning. We can't afford to waste time so when we have to dig through disorganized bins for our math manipulatives, we grow frustrated. If only we had attractive and durable bins to store them in, we could get down to the business of math!
Our 3rd grade students are an adorable mix of ELLs, Special Ed students with IEPs for learning disabilities and speech and language impairments and Gen Ed students.
They have different learning styles but are all eager to learn. Many of them come from impoverished homes. Our classroom is a safe, friendly, attractive place to learn with high expectations. Our school is a high achieving school.
My Project
Our students will use these bins to organize their math manipulatives and and STEM tools. They will have easy access to the very things they need to make learning math concepts real. The materials they find in these bins will help them transfer knowledge between math and science. They will waste no time getting and returning their supplies so they can maximize the time they spend grappling with different strategies for solving rigorous common core math problems.
These bins will not only improve the flow in our classroom but also provide the children with an attractive way to store their tools.
It's true that the children will love the way they look and feel. They will want to engage in using the manipulatives that are inside the bins.
