My students need pencils and folders to organize their notes! We've been using tiny plastic pencil sharpeners which takes away time from learning to sharpen the pencils!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Have you ever tried taking notes without a pencil? What about keeping your notes for a class organized without a folder or a binder? Not easy, right?
My students are in an inner city school in California in a neighborhood that is not the safest.
There is a lot going on outside of school for them that can prevent them from being able to pay attention and not having organized notes or a writing utensil really should not be one more barrier they have to face in order to learn.
My Project
By having folders to organize their notes they will have a folder for each unit we do in Geometry and Algebra. This way, my students will be able to keep track of all of their notes and use their folders as a study material whereas right now, their notes are getting lost in backpacks or being thrown out. Many students don't have pencils or a writing utensil making it incredibly difficult to take notes in the first place! For my geometry classes, the compasses will come in really handy! The current set we have are really loose and fall apart. Having good compasses will improve my students' confidence when doing geometry constructions!
There are already so many barriers facing these students and trying to prevent them from getting a good education.
Their access to regular classroom materials should not be another one of those barriers.
