My Students

Our school is one of diverse learners, from many different backgrounds. We qualify as a Title I school due to the number of students who receive free or reduced-price lunch. We have approximately 50 students who do not speak English as their primary language. Our school also houses three classes of students with severe learning disabilities.

Our building was originally built in 1958, but we try not to let that impact the wonderful time we have here.

Many of our students are children of parents who also attended our school.

My Project

In my math classroom, students have a variety of seating options. I have two tables that are 18 inches tall at the front of the room on carpets. In the middle of the classroom, I have three tables with yoga ball seating. At the back of my room, I have three standing tables.

Students who choose the standing tables sometimes also like a place to rest.

Therefore, I would like to give them the opportunity to sit at stools. Seating in a classroom should not be a static thing that never changes. I like to give my kids the opportunity to move to the area of the room that best serves them.
