My students need many math materials to help them understand math concepts such as a Unifix cube set, colored tiles, number boards, geoboards, bear counters, geometric solid models and a magnetic ten frame set.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are bright and excited about learning. They are hard-working and have wonderfully supportive families. I want to bring new materials that will encourage them in school success. They want to be good math learners, but they need some support with new hands-on materials.
My students are beginning kindergarten and are very excited to have the many new experiences that starting school brings to them.
I also want to help them learn to be successful in school and in their future. Please help me help my students have the tools they need to explore math concepts.
My Project
My students will use these math materials everyday during math time. Many of my students come to school without understanding numbers and mathematical concepts. These materials will help them to physically touch and manipulate items to see and understand new concepts for them. Kindergarteners learn best by having materials to touch.
I will be able to use these materials in so many ways such as patterning, counting, adding, subtracting and comparison of numbers and understanding of 3-D shapes.
These are essential skills and foundational to all future math understanding. I feel my students would learn the new Common Core skills for kindergarten with these materials to support our class lessons.
