As a third-year teacher, I am still creating my perfect classroom. In 5th grade, we departmentalize, so I teach math to 75 kids. In our classroom, we value community, friendship, and hard work. We are always working to build on these values through morning meetings.
Coming into my third year, I have limited supplies available.
Some items are out of my grasp. I have big ideas and want to pass them all on to my kids. I can't wait to share with them all we can accomplish and with your help, I can make their experience even better.
Many of the students in my class have a parent that serves in the military. These men and women who serve our country, along with their family members, deserve the best education for their children.
My Project
Having 75 fifth graders go through my classroom every day can put a lot of wear and tear on items. In my classroom we have 4 large round floor pillows as part of our flexible seating. The pillow covers are starting to ripe and I would hate to have to put the pillows away. My students love to use them. With four new covers, we could easily repair their favorite floor seating.
Having math activities available in the classroom is a great way to expose students to math in a fun way.
By having math games and books available, they can experience math in a different way. By offering many different entry points for math, I can reach all learners.
Finally, I love to reward my students. When a student is doing well in class, they can earn a ticket. These tickets go into a bin and I draw 5 tickets per class every Friday for a total of 15 tickets. These 15 students get to pick a prize from the prize bin. As you can imagine the cost for these prizes really adds up. My students love squishies, a few more of them to add to my prize bin would be an amazing help.
