Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school has quite an active learning environment. Students come from a variety of backgrounds and have wonderfully unique learning styles. Our school is a low-income school with the majority of students receiving free and reduced-price lunch.
Our school-wide goal is to achieve higher mathematics learning gains.
The best way to accomplish this task is to set-up a school math lab for use before, during and after-school.
Students learn in Spanish, as well as, in English in our International Baccalaureate Program about the unique world they live in. Their differences are also learning opportunities. Their varied learning styles also teach them to be tolerant of each other. This interaction helps shape their thinking to be worldly and external.
My Project
Students come to before school tutoring in order to get extra help with math tasks. This help is vital and these place value blocks, dry erase boards, charts, dice, manipulatives kit, and other tools will help create an environment that will enable them to complete hands-on tasks to get a better understanding of skills that need remediation.
All students learn differently and the more varied the environment, the more students will reach their individual achievement goal.
This is extremely important for students receiving help before, during and after-school.
Please consider that this lab will be used by any student of the school seeking before, during or after-school help.
