My Students

My classroom is comprised of a broad spectrum of culturally diverse learners. The students I teach are eager students who want to learn all they can. I teach mathematics to over 80 sixth grade students in an urban school district that has limited additional funds for items to enhance classroom learning experiences. My classes are comprised of general education and students who have special education needs. These students enter the classroom ready to learn with positive attitudes toward learning, even though they are faced with many challenges along the way. I am very proud each and every year to see how far the middle school students come from September to June. It is evident that adding these materials only helps to expand their knowledge.

My Project

These Scholastic Math readers will expand my students knowledge on various Math concepts they are currently learning about in the classroom. Students need to be exposed to different materials to enhance their learning. Reading about different Math concepts, in a fun exciting way, prompts individual growth and a stronger love for Math in general. These magazines allow the students to see first hand various new topics happening around the globe while infusing Math concepts in the readings. Allowing the students a interactive section to solve Math problems engages them in their readings, allows them to practice specific concepts and creates a overall life long learner.
