Help me give my students a Beginner's Balance, Big Tape measure, Size Sorting Eggs, Platform Scale, Wooden Block Balance, Wooden Geo Forms, Fraction Blocks and Cubes, sorting bowls, Hexacustm for Stacking and Building, and Wooden Dominoes.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My Head Start students come from the inner-city and do not have as many advantages as students from other areas. As a teacher, it is my responsibility to make sure they have what they need to learn and succeed in school and in the world. I teach at a Title I school in Nebraska, which means that ninety-three percent of the students receive free breakfast and lunch.
My students are amazing and I am proud to be their teacher!
They come to school eager to learn and are curious about the world around them. My school is a safe place for them, a place for them to be nurtured, loved, and prepared for the future. Covid has affected them but they have been resilient and pushed through.
My Project
Math concepts are very abstract to little preschoolers, which is why it is so important to give them as many opportunities to explore different materials as possible.
With the materials in this project, students will be able to try different ways of using materials, as well as learning different math concepts.
Sorting by size is an important concept, so the Size Sorting Eggs and sorting bowls will be helpful. The Wooden Block Balance, Wooden Geo Forms, Fraction Blocks and Cubes, and Hexacustm for Stacking and Building will be good for the students learning about positional words and learning new vocabulary.
