My students need Addition Flip and Sort Boards, Count and Sort Ovens, Interactive White Board Games for both Number Sequencing and Matching Quantities and a class set of Ten Frame boards and multi colored counters.
The students that I teach are kindergarten children from a very rural, high poverty area in Florida. These students are very bright and eager to learn. They love hands-on activities, working in small groups and technology.
Due to the high poverty level in the area where I teach and the lack of funds in our area, we do not always have access to the extra things that can make learning more fun and enjoyable.
I want to be able to challenge my students in new and exciting ways. Budget cuts should never hinder any student and I don't want this to be the case for my classes!
My Project
I am asking for math-based games and activities to build on my student's need for understanding number sense. Having interactive white board games like the software for Number Sequencing and Matching Quantities will allow us to practice as a whole group and then break into pairs to build confidence with using numbers and counting sets. The addition Flip and Sort Boards and the Build a Number Houses will help students learn beginning Math concepts like early addition and be able to put those new skills into practice during workshop time. And the class set of Ten Frame Boards and counters will allow us to use manipulatives to work with our hands while we go through our workbooks and worksheets.
