I am a First grade teacher who works with 20 wonderful and energetic students in a self contained classroom. My students want to be successful and they learn best from concrete experiences/examples. They are then better able to apply their new skills and knowledge. I have found several resources that would greatly enhance learning in mathematics for my students. Animal counters would allow my first graders to explore sorting and patterning principles through hands-on activities. A two-way teaching clock would allow me to model time concepts while my students work independently on individual clocks. My children would be able to "see" and control time! A Classroom timer would allow the students to mark time throughout the day and their favorite activities. This would help the children become real-life problem solvers! I have also found workmats that would allow the children to act out addition and subtraction problems instead of seeing only drawings. These mats would stimulate learning through different styles and help meet the diverse needs of our class. Plus they make learning more fun and exciting! Please consider my proposal as beneficial. I know that these resources would greatly contribute to my students' mathematical knowledge and enrich my curriculum delivery.
