Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

Math is everywhere! From the amount of time we work during the day, to the numbers that identify our school bus, to the size and shape of the cookies we select for snack. There is no doubt about it...Math is all around us. With the materials you purchase for my classroom, my students can develop an understanding of numeracy and how it relates to their lives. My seven students have autism and learn very differently than other students. We learn in a public separate school in Greensboro, North Carolina. I strive to bring academic concepts to my students and math is no exception! Because of their sensory needs, the tactile manipulatives in the math curriculum package are excellent for them to develop basic math concepts. In addition, the bright colors and easily recognizable (cookies, bears, oh my!) figures make learning fun. As a teacher of exceptional children, I strive to make learning functional and fun. This math curriculum package is an excellent tool for my students to have.
