My classroom is currently made up of 23 wonderfully unique minds of all backgrounds and ability levels. They show an eagerness to learn and are best served when working in small groups.
What an energetic and kind-hearted group of students I have this year!
They are such good friends that the most challenging part of my day is asking them to complete independent work because they cannot help but try to collaborate and assist one another. I often see students explaining work to one another. This is touching given the varying ability levels with academics and language acquisition that we have in our class.
My Project
Students understand mathematical concepts by using hands-on materials. I am trying to create fun and engaging activities to keep all students working optimally in small groups.
These materials will help me work with small groups of students, while other students practice skills in a fun and motivating way.
Many of the materials relate to fact fluency. These math skills are essential for students to master.
The flash cards and games I have selected will be used on a daily basis during our math group time. They will benefit all of my students and help keep the class working on meaningful activities. The white boards and markers will also make a great addition to small group work.
