Over 80% of our students come from disadvantaged backgrounds. Many of these children don't have access to the selection of reading and math materials that children from more affluent families take for granted. Our children have a great hunger for knowledge but often lack the materials to fulfill this appetite. Our school is a neighborhood school in a small New England city. There is a strong sense of community here between parents, staff, and residents that truly makes a difference in the school experience.
My Project
My students love to learn! They are a diverse group of learners who enjoy school and put in great effort in all they do!
We are learning about place value in math, and a new 120 chart would be valuable in my instruction.
The magnetic capability would be wonderful for the students to come up to the board and identify 2- and 3-digit numbers on the chart. Dry erase markers and storage bins for the math materials we are using for this unit are also things that my first graders need to be successful in our math unit.
Math is a wonderful, hands-on subject, and my first graders and I are so thankful for your support in their learning!
