My class contains students of mixed ability. My homeroom group contains 3 students with disabilities that need additional modifications and support and need to be in a different educational setting for main academic areas. My main group, who I have for a majority of the day, consists of 16 students. These 16 come from diverse ethnic and economic backgrounds as well as academic ability.
My students are sweet and very eager to learn.
They love to use electronics and manipulatives. I have many different types of learners in my classroom. Some learn better with hands-on materials and others need to have reinforcement of materials in small group instruction.
My Project
My students have a love for Math and they love when we can complete Math centers. They will be so excited to have fun activities they can complete on their own that reinforce the fundamental skills needed to succeed in Math.
My students who struggle with math concepts will benefit from these centers.
Place Value and number sense is important for students to understand numbers and math concepts. The place value center activities will help to build on their existing knowledge and allow them to use manipulatives in a fun game like form to help them gain further understanding.
The listening center will really attract the attention of my students because all we use the listening center for now is read along stories during Literacy center time. Students will be eager to go to this center and complete the activities while learning and reinforcing the skills taught.
