I teach a 3rd grade self-contained class (all subjects). We are a STEM school and my 3rd graders are at a low level and work really hard every day to accomplish their goals. Some days it is really hard for them, due to their experience in the world. It is important to impart the art of learning in every subject, every day, and give them the hands-on experience they need to connect their learning to the real world.
Our school assists students to acquire experiences that will motivate them to make responsible decisions, seek opportunities for growth and learning, and envision a future that includes higher education and/or trade school for a fulfilling career and to contribute to society in a positive way.

My Project
Math manipulatives bring a deeper understanding to math. They can help students transition from concrete learning to abstract learning. When students are learning to read math word problems, to get an understanding of the relationship between numbers, math manipulatives are key in learning how to connect math to reading the word problem.
Math manipulatives give a greater understanding and connections to students to learn and solidify their learning in math.
Math manipulatives are used to introduce/review/reteach concepts and give a foundation for learning all operations in math. Math Manipulatives help develop a sense of spatial awareness and they help promote problem solving skills at a higher level.
