My Project
The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students already have a home. In other words, I know exactly where everything will go. We just need your help in getting everything through our door! I would like to use class sets of counting cubes, ten frames and rulers to help my students with hands on materials.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, but you will also help to increase academic achievement.
My students will use these materials in groups and with partners to help understand new math skills. Students learn better when they are able to use manipulatives to get a better understanding. Students will use the counting cubes to help them with an understanding of addition and subtraction.
In 2nd grade, I will introduce them to measurement. With a set of the same rulers, we will be able to demonstrate and compare more easily. Students start of with "ten frames" to help with understanding different ways to add. The concept is hard to understand, but, with manipulatives, I think the students will be able to get a better understanding.
