My class is made up of 20 amazing students who are very diverse. Our school is located in a high need, low socioeconomic urban community. The students all receive free breakfast, and most qualify to receive free or reduced lunch.
My goal is to help my students develop confidence and a love of lifelong learning.
I would love to provide them with various math manipulatives they can use during math centers. They will use these resources to deepen their understanding of math. Children can learn so much when doing hands on activities. Your donation would help assist with this!
My Project
I've always used hands on math materials in my classroom. However, this year I've decided to use rotating math centers. This collection of math manipulatives will provide hours of educational and fun learning experiences for my first grade students in small groups. They will use these manipulatives to assist in developing a deeper understanding in mathematics.
One of my students' greatest needs in math is explaining their thinking and justifying their reasoning.
These items will give students support as they explain their thinking and challenge the thinking of other students. I am excited for my students to use the spinners, dice, and counters in games I found during a recent math workshop. In addition, the fact family boards and bast ten items will mostly be used during the rotation in centers when the students work with me.
These resources will allow my students to learn through a more fun and engaging format. Thank you for your support!
