Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

I am a second grade teacher in the Indianapolis Public Schools. This is my first year of teaching. We are in a brand new school, which sounds wonderful. However, we do not have any math manipulatives such as: clocks, cubes for counting, play money, etc. My students will benefit from having manipulatives they can get their hands on! While teaching math, I always want to show the students what I am teaching them in another way besides drawing it on the board. These manipulatives will allow me to better facilitate learning for the whole class! This will also allow me to teach math in more than one way which will address all learning types. My class is already eager to learn math, and this will make it more fun for them. I would like to see them even more engaged. As a reward for the class, we would like math games such as time and money bingo. This allows them to have fun, yet still master their skills. My students deserve these math manipulatives to help them further grasp the skills they are required to learn. I can help them succeed by having more resources available!
