My students need math materials, like counting games, match-ups and activity centers, to help them learn how to recognize numbers and shapes and to become fluent in counting to 100.
My kindergarten students come to school in September not knowing how to count, recognize numbers or able to write the numbers correctly. By the end of the year, they are expected to count to 100, add, subtract, form numbers correctly and recognize numbers to 100.
We are a full day kindergarten classroom with 16 students currently.
We have 10 girls and 6 boys. This is our second year being all day kindergarten. This is a wonderful bunch of children who have made many gains already in kindergarten. They are willing to learn, eager, friendly, polite and the nicest bunch of children you could ever meet.
My Project
If my project is funded, my kindergarten students will be able to learn how to count, recognize numbers, form numbers and make math fun and exciting daily. It is often difficult to make learning fun, but with the materials I have chosen, I think the children would enjoy coming to the math center daily.
My students need math materials to help them learn how to recognize numbers and shapes and to become fluent in counting to 100.
If my project is funded, my students will be able to meet their end of year goal and be successful learners. The children will come to the math center eager to learn and be successful with the materials purchased. The math centers provide a safe and independent way for the children to grasp common core concepts.
