Math Manipulatives to Build Teamwork!

Help me give my students math manipulatives for multiplication, division, and fractions. We haven't been able to use "hands-on" materials. Our gifted students use LEGO to support their learning because they are adaptable for different projects.

My Project

Our students are gifted and need diverse materials to support their learning. Talented students need a wide range of different materials and freedom to explore test out other theories and ideas, as they think deeply about the world in ways that aren’t typical. They love to be challenged academically, but they also need additional opportunities for their social skills to grow.

Our students haven't had the opportunity to build teamwork and work collaboratively in the last few years because of social distancing.

The math manipulatives help students solidify their thinking and bring their ideas to life. The dice game is explicitly a game that students can interact with. Their goal is to add multiple numbers on the dice and align them with the available number. It is a logic math fact game that is fast thinking. The other fun and flashcards allow them to interact with the content differently while learning sharing skills and how to support each other. With COVID-19, students were not allowed to share materials or work together. Students are now learning to communicate with others, which is an essential skill set.

The magnetic bookshelves will display the current books we have read related to our social & emotional, ELA, Math, Social studies, and science lessons. Much of our curriculum is integrated, so the visual display provides reminders to help students connect to other content. LEGO is an excellent tool for gifted learners as it allows them to construct their big-maker project builds and will enable them to change and improve their ideas. Legos are a versatile tool that will allow students to get materials in their hands quickly and easily.
