My students need a variety of math manipulatives so they can have hands on experience. Incentives and pencils will make math even more fun.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Being able to see the light bulb go off when my students grasp a concept is one of the best feelings.
This is my second year to teach fourth grade at a very low socioeconomic school in Texas. About 85% of my students come from an economically disadvantaged home.
Some of my students live with single parents and others are being raised by other family members. Many of my students do not have any money for lunch, much less able to go and buy a ruler, flash cards or geometric shapes which will help them while doing their homework. My students love math and we use anything from pinto beans to straws to help create hands on experience.
Being a second year teacher, I have spent hundreds of my own money purchasing every day school supplies for my students. With the materials that I requested, the geometric shapes will help my students see how two and three dimensional shapes are created. The multiplication discs will help them with their multiplication facts, which is always a struggle for them. My students have learned that when we do hands on experiments they grasp the concept even faster. I always motivate my students, and with pencils and certificates will only help motivate them to learn more.
With this donation, you will be showing them that their are people out there that care about them and their education. You will also make it possible for my students to continue to know that math is magnificent.
