Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Yeats said, "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." Thank you for helping spark that fire in Kindergarten by supporting our important math project!
Many of my students live in a high poverty area.
Over 90% of my class receives free or reduced price breakfast and lunch. Over 90% of the students in my class are also second language learners. Our school site actively participates in a Gang Reduction Intervention Program. Despite these challenges, they are also bright, happy scholars who love coming to school and are eager to learn!
My Project
Common Core Math requires our students to think deeply about numbers! We need math center activities to help us identify numbers, solve word problems and utilize number lines. Students will have an opportunity every day to not just hear a lesson, but to really engage with models that bring the lesson and math content to life!
Even though many of my students live in a high poverty area, they deserve a classroom learning environment that is rich with math models and engaging materials!
Math manipulatives and learning center activities will help our students achieve! Thank you for considering giving to this important project!
