One of the reasons I teach Kindergarten is the excitement 5 and 6 year-Olds have when they are first learning to read, discovering something new, and just learning about life. I love being a part of their discovery and helping them to explore their world.
I teach in a very diverse Kindergarten classroom with 57% of my students who are English language learners.
Many of my students come prepared and ready to learn, but some of my students come without the basic necessities and I do my best to help provide them so there are no barriers to learning. All of my students are eager to learn and excited to be in school. school. All of them have kind hearts and want to do their best and make their teachers and parents happy. And all of them have so much potential and I feel so blessed to help work with them towards their goals and ambitions.
My Project
Kindergarteners learn best when their hands are busy. We need manipulatives for them the explore the world of math. We are going to learn about shapes, weight, volume, and length by measuring, feeling, weighing objects rather than just explaining about them. We are going to do math by manipulating objects and seeing how addition and subtraction are done with hands-on tools.
Donating to my classroom will give the children the tools they need to be successful in math.
Instead of having just one scale or one set of shapes that I show the children, each child will have a set of their own or a set to share with a partner so they can experience the math concepts on their own.
