My Students

I teach fourth grade at an economically diverse elementary school in a rural area of west Michigan. Our educational needs and interests vary wildly, but we all have a love of learning and are avid readers. It can be hard to pull these kiddos away from a good book!

I am dedicated to guiding my students to become learners in the 21st century.

The growing use of technology in the classroom and at home is changing the way students learn and interact with each other, and it is critical to provide environments and experiences that keep my fourth graders engaged and excited about school.

My Project

After months (and years) of working in Covid conditions, we are finally figuring out new procedures for teaching in all subject areas. I have found that short, meaningful partnerships and buddy work are fulfilling students' need to discuss their learning while also keeping them safe.

My students need materials to help them organize their manipulatives and meet with their peers.

These games and bags will allow students to keep their math work and math manipulatives with them as they work, and take them home if they need to work from home for an extended period of time.
