Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students: This project is for my future engineers, doctors, scientists! Math and science are the key to innovation but are so often overlooked in my school; time to fix that!
Many of my students are rock star readers but lack fluency when it comes to math and science!
I am a first year teacher who loves watching my students explore different science tools and math manipulatives. I want to provide my students a year of self discovery and exploration. These resources will be used during the student workstation time while I pull my small groups for individual instruction. Fun practice makes perfect!
My Project
My Project: My students need hands-on resources such as Base Ten Blocks, Fractions, Time, and Money for our workstations and lessons. At my school, there is no funding to purchase materials, meaning I am expected to create or purchase materials that will work for my second graders. While lots of glue, glitter, and pipe cleaners have been used, I want my students to have the resources they truly need and deserve. Our school has continually struggled with low math and science scores, these workstations and manipulatives will help reinforce key concepts!
These are the most hardworking, humble second graders.
Please help me give them exposure and opportunities they would not otherwise have but undoubtedly deserve! With your generosity, we can support our future innovators and leaders!
