Ms. McGuire from Brockton MA is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need engaging, hands-on math activities, such as Word Problems Hot Dots Quiz Cards and Pens, 'Smath, Math Quiz Game Show and Math Bingo Library, to enhance their understanding and application of the fifth grade curriculum.

It's hard to capture the attention of a fifth grader long enough to teach fraction and decimal equivalents...ever tried? Hands-on activities will help my students to understand and enjoy math in school! It's about time students had fun learning and these supplies would be a great start!
I teach fifth grade in an urban inner city school where many of our students lack the resources to enjoy educational activities that are fun.
My students are full of personality and have kind and caring hearts, this is what makes them so special to me. Being a new teacher with a limited budget makes it difficult for me to provide additional resources that would help meet their needs. While my students do like math, it is often difficult for them to stay engaged in an activity for long. They enjoy playing games as part of math centers, as a whole class and with partners. It is my hope that incorporating more games into the math curriculum will enhance their understanding and ability to make connections and apply the concepts that they have learned.
My students need engaging, hands-on math activities, such as Word Problems Hot Dots Quiz Cards and Pens, 'Smath, Math Quiz Game Show and Math Bingo Library, to enhance their understanding and application of the fifth grade curriculum. We have requested several math board games that will be used during math centers and in students choice time. Many of the chosen activities are self-correcting and will be used during self-guided learning time. The interactive problem solving cards will be used with partners or by the individual student to better their math application skills. The math bingo games that were requested are to keep students on their toes when it comes to basic math skills that are the building blocks of their future education. I also requested magnetic manipulatives to be use as part of the multi-sensory instruction that my students require.
This project is so important to me because I want to share my love of learning and math with my students.
It is with a full heart that I hope these materials do make a difference in my students math abilities and help them stay dedicated to their education in the future. I just know my students would be so grateful and would LOVE to have these materials! Thank you in advance for your consideration of this project.
