Mission Valley Elementary is truly unique! We are a country school with humble and caring students who enjoy helping others. Last year, after we were hit by Hurricane Harvey, many of our students and their families joined the Mission Valley faculty and staff in cleaning up the grounds at the elementary. These kiddos jumped at the chance to clean up the place that’s like their second home. Although we did not receive much structural damage to the school, we lost many trees. We raked leaves and branches, cleared out fallen trees and even cleaned up the refrigerators in our cafeteria (due to spoiled milk). Teachers called their students’ families to check on them and asked if they needed assistance in any way. Many people from the community donated food and clothing which was taken by the school to families in need.
These kiddos are the most humble and kind students I have had the pleasure of working with.
I know that they would greatly appreciate any help in furthering their education with engaging activities.
My Project
The materials I am asking for include items to be used in stations, small group or as a whole group learning experience.
The "Multiplication Regrouping" item will help those students who struggle to understand the basic concept of multiplication.
I like how it breaks up the equation so that the student can find the answer and understand why they got their answer.
The "School Balance with Weights" will be used in our Measurement unit. I will be able to show students what the weights represent and they will be able to use them to find the weights of various items in the classroom.
The Games and Math Activity Stations will be used not only for station time, but also for those students who finish their work early and need something to keep their brains engaged.
