My classroom is made up of 12 precious students with developmental delays, autism, and behavior disorders. Our classroom teaches children who are 5-8 years old in a self-contained classroom setting. My classroom students are so important to me and there is nothing that I would not do for them to become the best that they can be! They are full of life and have amazing spirits. Many of my students struggle on a daily basis with cognition, focusing, concentration, anxiety, and managing their emotions appropriately. It is my job to create a classroom environment that promotes a safe place to learn and grow through the school year.
My Project
Math is often a difficult subject for the precious students in my class. My students often have a difficulty with mathematical concepts therefore giving them hands-on materials to reinforce these concepts is very important. My students learn in a variety of different ways, but kinesthetic learning, or learning with your hands typically yields the best results for the students in my classroom. These materials will add an element of excitement to our math lessons. The materials that I have asked for will allow my students to put math into motion. The materials will allow for independent learning as well as learning in a large and small group.
