Help me give my students support and manipulatives that take math off the worksheet and put it directly in their hands. With these critical thinking workbooks, students will build their ability to decipher real-world situations mathematically.

My Project
As a 7th-grade math teacher in a Title I school, I see firsthand the limited access students of lower economic status have to math manipulatives and resources to enhance their learning environment. Almost all of the decorations, support workbooks, and manipulatives that have been supplied to my students came from my own funding. Even still, my students come into class every day and invest in their learning curriculum. We have created our own class games to help with retention and focus. My students are special because, above all, they advocate for their education. They refuse to let the financial classification of their school dictate the outcome of their education.
With these resources, students will create a thinking classroom and build imperative skills for grasping and developing mathematical reasoning.
A fully funded project would provide my students with some crucial hands-on materials to reinforce the textbooks and worksheets that we use daily. Many of my spatial-thinking students will finally have the tangible pieces needed to watch their calculations take place through actual moving pieces.
One of the most complex concepts for students to grasp at this stage of education is the conversion between fractions, decimals, and percentages. by introducing fraction manipulatives students can work in stations and centers to cultivate their converting skills into mental math abilities.
My students and I and forever grateful for anything that is contributed to our ongoing success. Thank you for reading our proposal.
