My school's students are a very diverse group. They come from 14 different countries, and speak several different languages. I would like to encourage a love of school in each and every student. I'd also like to foster a sense of community for both the students and parents so they are invested in their learning.
I feel that a welcoming and happy classroom environment will give students the desire to be at school each and every day, and motivate them to learn and grow with each other.
My Project
Making math fun and engaging is best done through exploration in the early years. With the materials included in this project, students can create their own learning and help each other learn as well.
This project includes various manipulatives that help students explore math concepts.
There are teddy bears of various sizes, shape and color, for counting and for comparing. There are also pattern blocks for exploring 2D and 3D shapes. We can use geoboards to create shapes and explore how many sides and vertices they have. Also included are unifix cubes which are a staple for exploring patterns and number comparisons.
