I desire my students to have a love for math when they finish their first grade year! It doesn't always come naturally, but I strive for my students to become successful mathematicians in the short year I have them as students.
My students are all from high-poverty homes.
Many of them speak English as a second language. It is difficult for them to get their hands on learning materials outside of school. They come to school to eat breakfast and lunch, to receive counseling services, and to get a meaningful education. Sometimes it seems learning takes a backseat to these things. With new and interesting materials, learning can become more engaging and fun.
My Project
My students will greatly benefit from receiving Instant Math Learning Centers, Addition Fluency Puzzles, and 3-D shapes. These materials will greatly enhance my math instruction in my classroom. Students are able to learn and retain more when they are able to do activities or games with the concept they are learning. These materials will provide the opportunity to do just that. They will be able to use concrete objects to reinforce the concepts we are working on.
These math materials will be a great asset to me and a great addition to my classroom.
My students will be able to work at their own pace and with peers to grasp the knowledge that they need for each concept. My students will be able to become better mathematicians with these resources!
