My students are all very different, but all so very amazing. They are bright and spontaneous. They are caring and noble. They are determined to find their way in the world outside the school doors. My students live in a tight-knit urban community. My classroom is built as a safe-haven for students to express themselves verbally, emotionally, and physically without penalty. My classroom is built upon good morals and fixing mistakes while appreciating the many different cultures our classroom community brings together. As middle schoolers, each and every one of my students is in the process of discovering who they are as individuals, making decisions in their present that will change and impact their futures forever. My students are all amazing. They don't need much to succeed because they are brilliant and resilient, but they deserve so much more than I can give them as their teacher!
My Project
Scholastic MATH Magazines are an amazing resource for middle school students! Students are able to interact with a multitude of math concepts through literature filled with real-world experiences and scenarios. Scholastic MATH connects standards-based math skills to current events and shows students that math is everywhere, from science to pop culture. With Scholastic MATH, teachers will never hear the question, "When am I going to use this?" In every issue, students will read originally reported articles and solve word problems using real-world data that brings math concepts to life. This magazine will be used as a learning tool to enrich students in the beauty of math!
