My class is full of brilliant 6 year-olds ready to take on the world. They come in with little knowledge, and will come out reading on or above grade level. My first graders are in an ESOL classroom.
Approximately 64% of my students started the year reading at least one year below grade level.
As we strive to learn language, math and science we also introduce Common Core State Standards into our day. About half of my class receives free or reduced-price lunch and could use the extra help in all areas.
My Project
This project will bring mathematics to life for 2 classes of first graders! We will use these supplies of math boxes, math manipulatives, clocks for telling time and dry erase markers to write on and wipe off 120 charts and number lines.
This will help students experience math as they manipulate math for a kinesthetic experience.
First graders learn and grow at different rates, so we need to create different learning experiences for our students to be able to help each of them grow and learn. Thank you for being a part of helping them to learn. We appreciate your support!
