Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come to school every day excited to learn! My school is a Title I school with 92.9% of students coming from low-income families. There is a high percentage of Latinos at my school. I teach students who are learning English as a second language.
My students may come from low-income homes, but they are motivated to do well in school, and they enjoy learning!
I teach 3rd through 8th grade Special Education. My students have various disabilities including Intellectual Disabilities, Autism, Emotional Disturbance, ADHD, Other Health Impairment, and Learning Disabilities.
My Project
My students are hands-on learners! They benefit from manipulatives and putting things together. My students need materials and objects with visuals. They need other materials besides paper worksheets to engage them. I teach students in grades 2, 4, 5, 6, and 8.
Therefore, I need hands-on materials at various levels to reach all of my students.
My students need 'Power Pen Math cards' to engage them in various Math problems. 'Pick-A-Problem' will allow my students to solve different Math problems at their level. My students need 'Self-Checking Math Match-Ups to get hands-on practice with early Math concepts. My students need 'Math Bingo' games to reinforce essential Math skills!
