If you are reading this, thank you for wanting to make a difference in the lives of many students. I teach Kindergarten at a school that is just 2 years old. I am privileged to teach in a beautiful building, but our hands on teaching resources our few. That is why I need your help.
Flashcards and rote addition do not equip students to be successful in Math. Today's students are active and inquisitive. They need many items that they can manipulate to figure out everyday math problems. I have very few in my classroom and I know that after a few weeks of using the same manipulatives my students will become bored and no longer be intrinsically motivated to learn.
I am in need of some fun items that my students will be able to sort, add, graph and much more. I am also hoping to get some fun math games so my students will learn at a young age that although math may be challenging it can be fun. I have requested some magnetic money and money bingo. The students will be able to use these items so they will learn to recognize money and it's value.
Your help will ensure that my students will learn math in a fun and meaningful way. Because of you they will be able to problem solve with hands on manipulatives that are bright and fun to play with. It is most imperative that young children are allowed to learn through play. Learning through play makes the lesson more meaningful and what they learn is more likely to stick with them.
