My Students

I am a second grade teacher in a high poverty elementary school in southern Delaware. I have both regular education and special education students in my classroom. I also have a high population of ESL students who are either new to the country, still learning English or lacking language and vocabulary. I love teaching second grade! Second graders are enthusiastic about learning and becoming independent individuals. My students are so passionate about learning and work so hard to overcome their daily challenges from home and school. I am always looking for ways to continue to challenge my students and better prepare them for third grade.

My Project

Making math meaningful is what it is all about! Math is so important to students' futures helping them master important life skills that involve math. The shirts, tutus, and iron-on transfers will be used for M&M costumes for engaging math lessons teaching probability and fractions! Students will love dressing up and acting our math skills!

We are also seeking more flexible seating options for our differentiated math groups including a mesh chair, stadium seats, and lap trays.

Students love using the flexible seats when collaborating to solve real world math problems.

My students also need some organizational materials like wall pockets for our math centers, labels and folders for math centers, binders and paper for printable math activities.

All of these materials will help to provide students with stronger number sense, teach them about financial literacy, and help them to build peer relationships.
