My students are made up of boys and girls living in a midwestern school district. We are a very large district but still have a family feel because we're surrounded by corn fields and farms. Our school is a very community oriented place and we absolutely love our families.
My students have a genuine love for learning.
They are always seeking out new ways to learn material. They are extremely hard workers and always do their best to succeed in everything they do. My students are the kindness kids in the world and truly care about others.
My Project
My students will grow exponentially with this project in math! Two-digit and three-digit subtraction and addition are key skills taught in second grade. They need to be mastered in order to help them with multiplication and division later on.
Making subtraction and addition hands-on can truly help all students master these difficult skills.
These tools from Lakeshore will give my students the power to feel they can master their facts. The games such as, the place value folders, problem solving instant centers, 'Smath, and the hands-on regrouping set will be used in whole group instruction, small group, and independent practice. Some tools will be used to introduce a skill, while others will be used as a practice or reinforcement tool. I will use the write and wipe boards, the number lines, and base ten blocks constantly as additional hands-on tools to help my students with these addition and subtraction skills.
