Help me give my students a math literacy kit. This kit will help with developing vocabulary, subitizing, counting on, using doubles, and understanding the base ten system.
My students are inquisitive 5 and 6 year olds who love coming to school everyday! Kindergarten is a magical place with opportunities for exploration and the potential for endless growth.

They are eager to soak up every morsel of knowledge. They are creative, whimsical, and inventive. They love activities that are hands-on and interactive. To reinforce my teaching of "math talks," I want to implement a tactile kit of math materials to provide an opportunity for application into our daily routine.
My Project
What is math literacy, you ask? Math literacy is being able to use numbers to solve problems and to understand math language. Using numbers fluently comes with practice. Understanding math vocabulary comes with repetition and application. How will my students become math literate?
My kindergarteners will become "mathemagicians" with a comprehensive and engaging mathematics learning experience.
Currently, we are holding daily dot talks and having daily math class discussions. Through this, my students are acquiring numerical, algebraic, geometric, and problem-solving skills. The hand2mind Math Fluency Kit will provide more daily discussion prompts, hands-on materials, and vocabulary charts for our classroom's mathematics program.
I have already seen my students grow in math achievement in two short months after implementing daily dot talks, and I can't wait to see how they will grow after expanding on what they've already accomplished!
