Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are resilient and hard-working, deserving of all the experiences and opportunities education can provide! My students are 21st century learners and discoverers, ready to embrace the future and all they can contribute to it.
My students are in a bilingual program, learning to speak, read, and write in both English and Spanish.
However they face many challenges. Over three-fourths of the students at our school are economically disadvantaged and don't have access to the resources that many other students at other schools have. These students are excitable and curious learners, ready to explore learning beyond the pages of a textbook!
My Project
I am requesting math tools and manipulatives to make math time come alive in my classroom! Math is hard, but these tools will open doors for student engagement and learning. Students will use these items to problem solve, construct meaning, and explore math concepts.
These math tools will allow my students to develop mathematical comprehension far beyond the limitations of a worksheet.
They will see concrete examples of math concepts, use tools to reason and demonstrate their understandings, and engineer and explore new ideas. These math tools will allow my students to create concrete examples of math concepts and succeed as the mathematicians they are!
