This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Why math? is what my students would say at the beginning of the school year. To change their mindset, I had to change how they were used to doing math. I started integrating as much technology as possible. Since the integration of technology, the entire atmosphere of the classroom has changed.

My students have been very actively engaged and excited about learning.

Though my students are excited to learn, there are limited resources. I teach at a Title I school in an historical community in Mobile, Alabama called Africa Town. The community has changed over the years and the size of our school has changed with it. We are a small school, but the pride, values, and expectations are still there.

My students are capable of achieving anything they set their mind to, but the resources are not always available.

My Project

Having these Samsung Galaxy tablets inside the classroom, will give my students the skills needed to be college and career ready. The tablets will be used to allow the students to interact with math simulations programs, participate in guided, interactive presentation activities, take online assessments, therefore increasing their skills in the "Pre" Pre-Algebra math classroom.

The tablets will also be used to reduce negative behaviors and increase student participation by offering hands-on, engaging, 21st century activities.

My students are already equipped with a 21st century mindset, they are now in need of 21st century classroom technology for their math classroom.
