Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

I am a high school math teacher at W.L. Greene Alternative school. We are soaring high toward life long learning. Our school mission is helping students achieve success by building character, integrity, and knowledge. My focus now is knowledge. My Algebra class is in need of three more calculators. It is hard teaching a class when everybody does not have the proper tools. Having to share calculators can cause problems sometimes. By the end of the semester, the students will be taking the EOC for algebra and they will not be able to share calculators during the exam. If everyone had their own calculator it would better prepare them for the EOC. Teaching them to use the Texas Instruments (TI-83 Plus) would make them ready for the EOC. These calculators will help them to better understand tables and graphs. I would like to give our students the same chance as students in other schools.
