This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school is an awesome school with scholars who are eager to learn. I would like to add a morning meeting and cozy gathering area to make learning fun and exciting. The funds I am lucky to receive to purchase supplies for the classroom only goes so far. I would love to add fun and interactive math learning games the students can play together. This will help sharpen their math and social skills.
More than half of the students receive free or reduced-price lunch, and my school has many diverse students with varying educational needs.
Many students receive Title I or ELL services. A handful of students come into school as non-readers and need intensive instruction to bring them on level.
My Project
The materials selected will help the students practice and master key math skills. They will practice in groups playing various math games. This will also help with important social skills such as turn taking.
Playing math games will be fun.
The students will be eager to rotate through these math games. We will use these games the last 20 minutes of our one hour math block daily.
Students will also be able to use these math games on review Friday’s while I work with small groups. This will keep the students motivated to work and I still a love for math and school.
