Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our classroom is a family that consists of thirty-eight eager-to-learn kindergarten students in a Title I school in Texas where all of the students receive free lunch.
The majority of my students come from single-parent households where they struggle to make ends meet, but despite their difficulties, they always come into our classroom with smiles, eager to learn.
I want to provide my students with unique learning experiences in and out of our classroom that they can carry through life.
Many of my students and their families were affected by Hurricane Harvey and I am trying to make them feel welcomed and secure in my classroom. I also want them to feel like their world is going back to normal after such a tragic event.
My Project
The students will use the jumbo number dice to practice number fluency, and to represent the number of the day. The 120 mat floor game is going to allow my students to practice counting up to 120 in a fun and engaging way. The students will use the mat as a workstations to practice identifying the numbers and counting. The bulletin board paper is going to be used to decorate and cover the bulletin board that is going to display their awesome work. Finally the colorful caddies are going to be used to organize our colors, erasers, markers and pencils.
