My Students
My students always see the best in every situation and are my biggest motivators. Everyday they come into the classroom ready to listen and excited to learn. They face challenges many of us could never imagine, but you wouldn't be able to tell by their happy go lucky attitudes. I pride myself in being able to create a safe and welcoming environment for them. My new focus is to give them the education they deserve.
The great majority of my students come from economically disadvantaged homes.
Outside of my classroom, they are not used to getting quality things, but they always graciously accept what they have. Although they accept what can not currently be changed in their home lives, I believe it is my job to make sure they have the very best at school.
My Project
My students are hard workers, so there is always a need to let loose and play! I have noticed that they like to play games that are often educational. For example, they love to pretend to run a store or restaurant. This is why I chose a cash register as one of our materials. They love to create designs and patterns with shapes, so I selected pattern block activity cards for them.
Through these fun materials, they will play, but with a purpose!
My students will master mathematical concepts like money, place value, and geometry all while having a great time. I enjoy watching them play every day, because I see a ton of learning, and their intelligence is out of this world. My goal is to take advatage of this good time, and turn it into another learning experience. I believe in maximizing learning and making discoveries everywhere, at all times.
