Math Is Cooler Than Magic

Help me give my students whiteboards with graphs on them and Expo markers, algebra tiles, fraction bars, domino games to help them practice, post it graph paper, and patty paper for 8th grade geometry.

My Students

My students are awesome!! I teach at EVE located on the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation. EVE is a Title I school with a high population of Native American Students. My students were highly impacted by COVID. Many of my students are below proficient and struggle. Approximately 40% tried some form of online school last year but were unsuccessful so they returned to me even further behind.

My Project

My students need to be able to manipulate things. To touch, see, feel. The Fraction cubes and Algebra tiles will allow them the opportunity to do that. They struggle so much and need all the help they can get. My students also struggle with graphing, plotting points, slope, etc. The whiteboards with graphs, and markers, will help them every day in our class. I also use them for quick assessments to gauge what my next step will be. The games will help them practice concepts in a fun, low-stress way.
