Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Students at my school are young, energetic and full of curiosity. They come from various socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. Many of them come from other countries. But this is what makes our school so special. Having this great diversity that allows students the experience to work with others who may not have the same stable home or economic stability.
Our students are special because they learn acceptance of others no matter their differences.
Giving up is not part our culture here at the school. We believe that each one of our students has a path leading to a bright future as citizens of the USA.
My Project
Diverse learners need interactive learning experiences. Mathematics is more than just numbers. Mathematics is concrete, visual and abstract. Students of all ages benefit from learning mathematics in a way that makes sense to them. Math manipulatives allow students to do just that.
As an educator with many years of experience I have worked with students at all grade levels.
I want to be able to provide students with math experiences that allows them to make their learning not just fun, but also be able to reach all learners no matter their learning modality and social or cultural background. I want my students to love math. To come to school looking forward to and eager to learn. I want them to be able to go home excited about what they learned and get their parents excited about what their children are learning in school. I know I would make great use of these tools and that my students will come out stronger in their understanding of math concepts and ready to succeed at the next grade level.
