Each year as a teacher I get the opportunity to teach a classroom full of amazing students. When you look around my room you will see children from all over the world, highly gifted students, students with learning difficulties, and everyone in between.
The diversity within our school makes for a wide range of learners who all share a desire to learn.
Our school is located in an urban area. 100 percent of the children receive free lunch. Although many of the children have been dealt a rough deal in life, they are committed to making their futures extraordinary.
My Project
In preparing my students for their future, it is very important that they are able to solve difficult math problems. We are are now at the point where I am encouraging them to share their thinking and step-by-step strategies with the class.
Let's give these fabulous learners the opportunity to "take the stage" and proudly share their thinking.
These experiences will not only enhance mathematical thinking but build self-esteem.
Having access to this PA system, Echo Show and other materials will allow my students to feel like real mathematicians, who are proudly presenting and exploring their findings to their classmates. Opportunities like this make for very memorable learning experiences.
