My students are a diverse group of 6th-8th graders who struggle significantly with math. These students come to my math intervention classroom each day for an additional layer of individualized, targeted support.
My students are hard-working, motivated young adults who are determined to tackle their struggles in math!
Although it's tough to have a second class period in a content area that is especially difficult, these students persevere. They work each day to build confidence and improve math reasoning skills.
My Project
Studies show that classroom design impacts student engagement. Middle school students are more engaged and better able to focus when they’re in a learning environment that is designed to meet their needs.
Help me transform my math intervention classroom into a comfortable, flexible learning environment for my struggling learners.
I'd like to redesign my classroom with new tables to replace traditional desks, along with a variety of seating options that allow students to move as they learn.
This flexible seating design will allow my students to choose where they will learn best each day. This will also make it easier for students to work in groups, and utilize the math manipulatives during lessons and activities.
