My students need effective math materials like a light table, pocket chart and tens frame boards to challenge my students and create a solid foundation and excitement for future mathematics learning.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students have come from many different parts of the world including Mexico, Somalia, Ethiopia, India, the Philippines, and the United States. They come with creativity, a wide variety of experiences, and an excitement for learning. We work hard every day as scholars, artists, critical thinkers, and friends.
At our school, 96% of students qualify for free or reduced-priced lunch, and 92% of the students are students of color.
50% of my students are learning English as a second or third language. All of my students have the capacity to achieve greatness!
My Project
Young learners are developing their knowledge and understanding of math. Mathematics helps young learners make sense of their world and helps them construct a solid foundation for success in school. I want to offer these experiences for my students who don't have the same access to early experiences as students in more affluent homes.
I am asking for a variety of high-quality, challenging, and engaging materials for preschoolers to explore and have fun with as they are learning concepts about math.
These materials, particularly the Magnetic Ten Frame Answer Boards, the Counting Tree, and the Numbers & Counting Pocket Chart will give my students the experience and exposure they need to feel confident for a lifetime of learning!
